Gould GR55 – 4.0L Judd V8

Jason had fully stripped and rebuilt his GR55 from the ground up, the 4.0L V8 engine had gone to Judd for a full rebuild. The car had been soda blasted back to bare carbon and had a full repaint in Leyton House colour and it was the first time being back together since 2019. Jason had asked Steve to come down to Llandow to check everything over, update all the systems to the latest specs. The car went amazingly on the day.

Jason came over from Jersey to test at Llandow for several days last week, his Gould GR55 4.0L Judd is now running a MBE9A9 ECU, which controls the electronic throttle/EGAS as well as the gearbox control and traction control. Particular attention was paid to limiting the throttle opening during starts in order to protect the gearbox due to the amount of torque that the Judd engine can produce. Throttle response was also worked on due to new throttle design which allows a more progressive control with improved throttle response. As soon as the test was finished, Jason rushed off to Prescott for the first British Hillclimb Championship round.
