TVR Tuscan racecar with 4.6L John Eales engine

March 2019

Steve went testing to Llandow with Blaze Motorsport, we spent the day mapping the new 4.6L John Eales engine, which replaced the 5L version used last year in Stuart Daburn’s TVR Tuscan racecar. The MBE9A9 ECU was using its inbuilt lambda control with twin wide band lambda sensors to map the engine. The set up of the engine went very well, John Hewat and Steve also had time to make adjustments to the car’s suspension set up and the car slowly improved throughout the day with Stuart gradually reducing his lap times. A very successful day, Stuart was very pleased with the results and now ready to go racing

John brought up to us the TVR Tuscan to do the initial set up on its 5.2L Rover V8 engine, which has just been built by John Eales of J E Developments. The car is now equipped with an MBE9A9 ECU running twin wide band lambda, Simon at Sileck has built a completely new wiring harness. Steve then went to Torque Developments, where he mapped the engine, everything turned out really nicely and John just has a few more jobs before it is ready for testing.

Cobra Replica with a modern replica of a 1967 Ford V8 engine. John came to us because they were having difficulty getting it to past modern emissions with it’s standard management system. We supplied them with a MBE9A9 twin wide band lambda sensors, they had a custom wiring harness made. The car was delivered to our workshop to set up initial idle & emission control, we also set up self mapping so the ECU would continually learn & adjust itself to optimize it’s settings. Once this was carried out, John collected the car & changed the catalysts. The car then went easily through IVA, John taken to Andy at BD Engineering is his local rolling road where Steve optimised all the settings to achieve the best performance & emissions.
